Viagra (sildenafil) dosage used for treating male impotence

Viagra is an oral medicine used for treating male impotence (e.g., erectile dysfunction). Viagra is a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor and it works by helping the blood flow into the penis to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual stimulation.

Some dosage considerations for taking Viagra include:

* Viagra medication can be taken at any time during the day. However, it is not recommended that you take Viagra more than once in a day.
* Viagra dosage can be taken with or without food.
* Do not break, chew, or crush the Viagra tablets.
* For Viagra to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Viagra will not work if you take it in a way other than how your healthcare provider prescribes.
* If you are unsure about anything related to Viagra or your Viagra dosage, please talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking Viagra without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.

For most patients, the recommended dose is 50 mg taken, as needed, approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. However, Viagra may be taken anywhere from 4 hours to 0.5 hour before sexual activity. Based on effectiveness and toleration, the dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.
