Testosterone Propionate is an androgen that is used in men and boys to treat conditions caused by a lack of this hormone, such as delayed puberty, impotence, or other hormonal imbalances. Testosterone Propionate injection is also used in women to treat breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.
Although the side effects of propionate are similar to the ones of enanthate and cypionate, they occur less frequently. However, if there is a predisposition and very high dosages are taken, the known androgenic-linked side effects such as acne vulgaris, accelerated hair loss, and increased growth of body hair and deep voice can occur. An increased libido is common both in men and women with the use of propionate. Despite the high conversion rate of propionate into estrogen gynecomastia is less common than with other testosterones.
Testosterone converts to both Estrogen (through Aromatization) and Dihydrotestosterone (through 5a-reduction). Most of the side effects people experience with testosterone use is actually from it’s conversion to these two substrates.
Women receiving androgens will notice their voice deepening after a period of time. If you take the drug for more than 3 months, you may have less interest in sex, more body hair, acne, and an enlarging clitoris. Androgens may cause liver problems, and rarely have even caused tumors or liver cancer if taken for a long time.
