
Seroxat
paroxetine hydrocloride
Seroxat is mainly used for treating patients suffering from depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, panic attack, social anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, etc. The medicine however, takes at least 2 weeks to show visible results on the patients. The tablet should be taken for a complete course and should not be discontinued as soon as you feel better. It might take around 4 to 6 months for complete recovery so; it is advisable that you continue the course as instructed by your physician. Seroxat does not produce addiction.
Drug Administration
The initial Seroxat dosage amount is 10 mg for panic disorder and 20 mg for other types of disorders. Seroxat is usually administered during morning hours. The dosage amount is incremented in 10 grams every week or as required by the patient. The maximum dosage amount is 20 mg for general anxiety, 40 mg for PTSD, 50 mg for depression, and 60 mg for other related disorders.
Seroxat Side Effects
Some of the side effects of Seroxat include,
- Headache
- Nausea
- Dryness in mouth
- Sweating
- Insomnia
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Weight gain
- Loss of libido
However, weight gain and loss of libido wanes in about two weeks. When your doctor plans to stop the dose, the dosage amount should be gradually lowered and minimum 4 to 5 days is the minimum step down level. The discontinuation syndromes are harsh; hence, it is advisable to stop gradually.
