Seropram is mainly used for the treatment of depression. The drug also has use in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, and other panic disorders.
Seropram Action
Seropram is an antidepressant that affects the neuro transmitter of the brain. As believed by many experts, any imbalance in neurotransmitters level can lead to depression. Seropram functions by preventing the uptake of neurotransmitter by the nerve cells even alter the release of it. The reduced uptake of serotonin results in free serotonin in the brain cells for brain cell stimulation. Seropram belongs to the class serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which also includes fluoxetine and paroxetine.
Seropram Dosage
Seropram is usually administered as a single dose during the morning hours. Like other anti depressants; Seropram takes approximately 4 weeks for imparting visible results on the individual. The dosage is increased in increments for desired results. However, elder persons, debilitated persons, and persons suffering from kidney or liver dysfunction need low dosage amounts.
Drug Interactions
Seropram should not be consumed if you are using Mono-amine-oxidase inhibitor class of anti depressants.
Seropram Side Effects
Some of the side effects of Seropram include,
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Profuse sweating
- Headache
- Tremor
- Insomnia
Some patients also show withdrawal symptoms of withdrawing from Seropram. Symptoms like,
- Dizziness
- Tingling feeling
- Tiredness
- Vivid dreams
- Irritation
- Poor mood indicate withdrawal symptoms.
