The dose of meloxicam (Movatec) that your healthcare provider prescribes will vary depending on a number of factors, including: your age and weight, the medical condition you are being treated for, other medical conditions you may have, other medications you may be currently taking. As always, do not adjust your meloxicam dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so. Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis For juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, the recommended meloxicam dosage is based on weight and is generally 0.125 mg per kg taken once daily. It is also recommended that the liquid form of meloxicam be used for smaller children to allow for more accurate dosing. Dosage must be determined by your doctor. The maximum recommended daily dosage of meloxicam is 7.5 mg. Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis For osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, the recommended starting meloxicam dose is 7.5 mg once a day. Maintenance dose is 7.5 mg orally once daily. If symptoms do not improve, your doctor may recommend increasing the dose. The maximum recommended daily dosage of meloxicam is 15 mg. For people with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, it may take meloxicam several weeks to begin working to its full potential. |
