Ephedrine, or its synthetic equivalent, Pseudoephedrine, is a vasodilator. This means that the substance can relax or expand blood vessels. The dilation of blood vessels allows blood to flow more easily. Improved blood flow can help alleviate the symptoms of respiratory and circulatory conditions, including asthma.
Ephedrine tablets provide fast treatment for these asthma symptoms:
* shortness of breath
* tightness of chest
* wheezing due to bronchial asthma
* phlegm in bronchial tubes
* common cold
* hay fever
* congestion
* cough
Ephedrine also boosts energy production. Ephedra has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries. Like those before them, users of ephedra report that their energy and stamina have considerably increased after taking ephedra.
The powder as well as infusion of ephedra is useful in acute rheumatism. Its use for 10 to 12 days consecutively will relieve painful, inflamed joints and leave the patient healthy. It, however, is not of much value in chronic cases. Ephedra stands as an infallible remedy for rheumatic troubles where allopathic medicines like salicylate of soda, aspirin and antipyrin fail to produce any visible result. At the same time, it does not produce any side-effects on the heart. It is a good stimulant for cardiac results.
