Drug Mechanism of Action
Fluovoxamine maleate, the active ingredient of Dumirox belonging to the class of serotonin reuptake inhibitors, works by increasing the serotonin concentration in the brain. It takes approximately 8 to 10 weeks for the drug to show its result. It is hence, advisable to go for serial checkups with the doctor during the treatment course.
Precautions
It is advisable that you inform your doctor regarding any alternative medications you take. Also, inform your doctor if you suffer from allergies, medical condition, pregnancy and breast feeding before the doctor prescribes the drug to you. In case you are taking two different medications for the same ailment, inform your doctor regarding the condition which may help the doctor to alter the dosage amount for better results. The dosage amount should be gradually reduced before stopping the medicine. This way it helps in reducing the chance of discontinuation symptom.
Dumirox Administration
Dumirox has to be consumed exactly as advised by the physician. Do not take more or less quantity of the prescribed dose. The recommended dosage amount is 50 mg, which should be consumed as a single dose during the bed time. The dosage increment amount should be 50 mg every 4 to 7 days depending upon the tolerance level of the individual. However, dosage limit of more than 300 mg is not recommended. Dosage amount of more than 100 mg should be given in two doses and the larger dose should be given in the bed time.
Missing a Dose
In case if you happen to miss a dose, do not have both the doses together. If the dosage clashes, it is better to avoid the previous dose and continue with the current dose. It is also better to consult your physician in case of any doubts regarding the dosage amount.
Side Effects of Dumirox
