Cytomel is mainly used for treating patients with low thyroid functions. This drug is also used for treating other types of goiters and also helps in diagnosing certain thyroid functions and also treats patients who are allergic to other thyroid drugs. The thyroid hormone works by artificially replacing the natural thyroid hormone.
Precautions
Cytomel should not be used if you are allergic tone or more ingredients of the drug. Persons who suffered heart attacks and who have untreated thyrotoxicosis and uncorrected adrenal gland problem should refrain from using Cytomel.

Cytomel usage Instructions
Cytomel should be used as instructed by the physician. Cytomel can be consumed with or without food and the drug works best if it is consumed at the same time every day. Cytomel should be taken at least 4 hours after the consumption of calcium salts like calcium carbonate, cholestyramine, and sucralfate. Continuous intake of the drug is essential for relieving the symptoms of the condition.
Missed Dose
If you happen to miss a dose, try to have it as early as possible. If both the doses clash, then it is better to avoid the earlier dose and carry on with the current dose.
Safety Precautions
If you experience shaking of hands, nervousness, difficulty in sleeping, head ache, change in appetite, diarrhea, increase heat sensitivity, sweating, increased heart rate, chest pain, breath shortness, then these indicates that your dosage amount has to be adjusted. It is wise that you consult your doctor for further proceedings. Cytomel usually should be taken for life except in cases of temporary thyroid abnormalities. Side Effects of Cytomel
Cytomel can cause partial or temporary loss of hair in children. Person can also experience swelling of mouth tongue and lips, appetite changes, insomnia, weight changes in appetite; changes in menstrual periods; changes in weight; chest pain; diarrhea; breathing difficulty; profuse sweating; headache; difficult to tolerate high temperatures or weather condition; high heart rate; improper heartbeat; cramps in legs; nervous feeling; chest pounding; breath shortness; tremors and vomiting.
Cytomel Overdose
In case of drug overdose, contact your nearest emergency care for flushing the excess drug from your body. Symptoms like dizziness, weakness in one side, confusion, blurred vision are suspected symptoms of drug over dose.
Cytomel Storage
Cytomel is stored in temperature between 15 to 30 degree Celsius, away from direct sunlight, moisture and dampness. Cytomel should also not be stored in bathroom as well. Keep it away from children and pets.

Cytomel is not meant to be shared with other patients and contact your doctor if you still have any persistent doubts about the drug formulation, dose, etc. If the symptoms of the side effects does not reduces contact doctor immediately.
